Food System Economic Partnership

FSEP Annual Conference

The Food System Economic Partnership hosted its third annual conference on Thursday, April 3rd at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Motherhouse, located at 610 West Elm Avenue in Monroe as part of our efforts to build a better food system in southeast Michigan.  Click here for a conference brochure.

Over 200 participants gained an understanding of the local food system and explored opportunities for growth in production, processing, distribution, sales, and consumption of local foods.  The keynote speaker was Judith LaBelle, President of Glynwood Center, a nonprofit located just north of New York City in the Hudson River Valley.  Glynwood promotes community-based conservation, and a major focus over the past several years has been its Agricultural Initiative - through which it is helping the region's farmers remain economically viable and sharing what is learned with people in other regions facing similar challenges.
