Bio for Brenda Reau

Brenda Reau
MSU Extension Coordinator--Monroe County

Brenda Reau has a 27-year career with Michigan State University Extension in Monroe County and has served as the County Extension Director since 2002. Brenda was one of the founding members of the Food System Economic Partnership and serves on the Board of Directors and is the Education and Outreach Committee Chair. She has a broad base of experience in the food system both from the consumer and producer prospective. She has created nutrition education programs throughout her Extension career and served in leadership roles within the agriculture industry.

Brenda serves on the Michigan Sheep Breeders Board of Directors and is the Publicity Director for Michigan Suffolk Breeders. She is a member of Monroe County Farm Bureau and Michigan Integrated Food and Farming Systems. She also chaired the Agriculture Division for the United Way of Monroe County Annual Fund Campaign. Brenda has received the NEAFCS National Distinguished Service and Continued Excellence awards. She has also received the Commissioner’s Special Citation from FDA for her work in food safety.

Brenda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from Siena Heights University and a Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Technology and Public Administration from Eastern Michigan University.
